Second District Guardian Ad Litem and Court Appointed Special Advocate - Ogden

Provides Guardians ad Litem and Guardians ad Litem volunteers for abused, neglected, and/or abandoned children within the legal system.

Description:

A CASA volunteer is a sworn officer of the court whose job is to provide the child's Guardian at Litem and the juvenile court judge an independent assessment of the circumstances of the child. The CASA's report is drawn from their visits with the child and with the key parties in the child's life.

Eligibility:
Open to persons at least 21 years of age. Volunteers must pass a BCI background check and Child Abuse Registry screening, be fingerprinted, commit to 5-10 hours per month, complete 32 hours of training, complete 12 hours of continuing education each year, commit to driving as needed to fulfill duties, and be committed to serving children. They must also provide three references to the local program coordinator.
