Area agency in support of the aging senior citizen population. Services include home delivered meals, transportation, caregiver counseling, caregiver and care receiver support groups, general health insurance information/counseling, and a long term care ombudsman program.

Description:

The Caregiver Support Program primarily provides support group services to those caring for people who are 60 years or older. Care receiver support groups are also available for those in need.

Description:

Counselors offer Medicare beneficiaries objective information on benefits, coverage options, supplementing Medicare, prescription drug plans, and assistance programs, providing free, unbiased counseling via telephone, face-to-face interactions, public presentations, and media activities to help seniors make educated decisions. The Senior Medicare Patrol (SMP) empowers beneficiaries, families, and caregivers to prevent, detect, and report healthcare fraud, errors, and abuse through outreach, counseling, and education.

Age 65 and older or those with questions approaching Medicare age or their families or caregivers.

Description:

Advocates on behalf of residents of nursing homes, assisted living facilities, and other residential care facilities licensed by Utah Department of Health by voicing and resolving the concerns that elderly residents encounter. The Ombudsman helps residents to resolve complaints and concerns and informs residents and their families about the resident's rights.

Any age resident of a nursing or assisted living facilities in Box Elder, Cache, or Rich Counties.

Description:

Senior Companionship volunteers serve as companions to home-bound seniors by providing companionship, and errand assistance to grocery shopping, doctor appointments, pharmacy, etc. Companions receive a small stipend for their services.

Eligibility:
Volunteers in Senior Companions must be age 55 or older, have income below $2660 per month for an individual or $3606 per month for a two person household, and pass a physical and criminal background check. Senior Companions receive tax-free stipend.
