Active Re-entry Independent Living Center - Price

Community based program which assists individuals with disabilities to achieve or maintain self-sufficient and productive lives in their own communities.

Trips are made to the Utah Valley Medical Center as well as the Central Utah Multi-Specialty Clinic in Provo. The drivers will drop riders off at whichever facility their physicians and treatments are located. Transportation is for radiation treatment only.

Facilitates consumers in obtaining necessary assistive technology. Services include: evaluations by professionals specializing in assistive technology, funding information, research, and equipment loans.

Provides basic information about advocacy to persons with disabilities, connects them to additional resources and direct advocacy for individuals at the community level ensuring persons with disabilities are integrated into their communities successfully.

Provides skills training to enhance the independence of adults with disabilities in their homes, families, and communities. The program provides classes in cooking, assertiveness, relationships, financial management, adjustment to disability, and others as consumer needs dictate. Persons with disabilities can also get help finding accessible housing, receive peer support, and work individually with staff.

Education in adaptive techniques and devices, peer support groups, peer counseling, orientation and mobility training, information on resources and benefits available to those with low vision, and social/recreation activities.

Connects people with resources that can help them.

Active Access Support Group provides monthly meetings to unite individuals who use scooters or wheelchairs for mobility within the community. This includes training and education on the use and maintenance of the equipment as well as recreation and socialization activities. Care Givers Support Group provides education, referral services, support, and assistance to families and professionals involved in caregiving. Grief Support Group provides monthly meetings that give support to those experiencing grief from the loss of a loved one. Low Vision Support Group provides monthly meetings in both Carbon and Emery Counties with peers to learn techniques to adapt to their disability. Skills and experiences are shared.

Supports both individual and community advocacy strategies that create positive change for persons with disabilities and their environment both in the state and at a national level.
