Rescue Mission of Salt Lake

A ministry that serves individuals experiencing homelessness and individuals in need by offering various services. Provides inpatient recovery and relapse prevention programs, emergency shelter, baggage check, transitional housing, and a day room for men. Personal showers are available for homeless men, women, and children. Also has a soup kitchen serving prepared meals (3 meals per day), and food boxes.

Public Showers/Baths
Description:

Provides restrooms and showers for men aged 18 and older to shave, shower, and brush their teeth.

Transitional Housing/Shelter
Description:

Christian faith based longer term shelter for men that includes a 12 month treatment program for addiction recovery.

Eligibility:
Indigent. Income restrictions apply but vary, walk in for details.

Baggage Check Facilities
Description:

Provides a baggage room for men staying at the shelter to check in their belongings for up to seven days.

Eligibility:
Only for the men staying at the facility overnight.

Relapse Prevention Programs
Description:

Provides substance abuse recovery meetings for men striving to maintain sobriety. Open only to men who are staying in the shelter as part of the recovery program.

Men age 18 and over who are staying in the shelter as part of the recovery program.

Soup Kitchens
Description:

Provides hot prepared meals for community members in need. Dinner is only available to those staying in the shelter overnight.

Breakfast: M - F 6 am - 6:45 am; Su - Sa 7 am - 7:45 am; Lunch: Su - Sa 12:15 pm - 12:45 pm; Dinner: Su - Sa must be in the building by 7 pm in order to stay for dinner.

General Clothing Provision
Description:

Provides clothing, shoes, and personal hygiene items such as toothbrushes and combs for men using the shower facilities.

Eligibility:
Men aged 18 and older who are using the shower facilities.

Homeless Shelter
Description:

Fifty six shelter beds are available for men with overflow available nightly. The building is closed down from 7 pm to 6 am, those staying overnight must be in the building during those hours.

Eligibility:
Homeless men age 18 and older. Zero tolerance policy on drugs and alcohol.

Su - Sa 7 am - 6 pm
Intake Procedure:
Walk in. Check-in for overnight shelter begins at 5:30 pm and goes until 6 pm.

Food Pantries
Description:

Provides food boxes to low income families who need help with groceries. Families can get food boxes once every two weeks.

M - F 9 - 11 am & 2:30 - 4:30 pm; Sa 9 am - 11 am & 2 pm - 4 pm; Su 2 pm - 4 pm

Description:

Provides an addiction recovery and counseling program to men struggling with substance abuse issues who are participants of the transitional housing program.
