A center for independent living providing services that promote and enhance independent living for seniors and people with disabilities. Provides home barrier evaluation/removal services, advocacy, aging and disability resources, assistive technology equipment loans, medical equipment and supplies, independent living skills instruction, disability related sports, disability rights groups, specialized information and referral, and court ordered community service opportunities.

Description:

Assists people with disabilities in learning skills and accessing available services to be able to live an independent, full life. Classes include food preparation, low vision training, living with hearing loss, computer education, First Aid, CPR, legislative advocacy, setting up personal budget plans, shopping affordably, vacation planning, and additional subject as requested. Young adults with disabilities transitioning from high school to the adult work world can attend classes about the workplace and personal life skills.

Offers recreational activities for people with disabilities. Activities available year round, such as arts, crafts, and bingo. Other seasonal activities include kayaking, camping, and wheelchair basketball.

Description:

Assists in obtaining medical and assistive technology equipment that can increase or maintain one's capabilities, such as wheelchairs, walkers, crutches, canes, hospital beds, shower chairs, low vision aids, lifts, grab bars, and ramps. Provides temporary loans from a large loan bank of donated and purchased equipment.
