The Salvation Army - Salt Lake

A social service organization that provides assistance to people in need without discrimination. Services offered include a food pantry, a court-ordered community service site, and utility service payment assistance.

Description:

Assists with R.E.A.C.H. (Dominion Energy), LEND A HAND (Rocky Mountain Power), and Project Water ASSIST (Salt Lake City Corporation Water). These programs exist to assist the low-income, elderly, disabled, veterans, and families either catch up on past due bills, avoid shut off, or get utilities set up in a new residence. Households qualify for each type of assistance only once in 12 months. Water utility assistance is for Salt Lake City residents only.

Enbridge Gas:
All applicants must be approved for the HEAT Program (2025-26) when applying for the Salvation Army utility payment assistance program and have a past due balance. The household must be below 150% of the federal poverty level AND have ONE of the following: a household member who is disabled, a veteran, 60 or over, or under 5.
Rocky Mountain Power:
All applicants must apply to the HEAT program FIRST (approval or denial notice is required). ONE of the following is required: a household member under 17, a senior 60+, person with a disability OR a veteran.
SLC Corp (water)
Household income must be at or below 150% of the Federal Poverty Level AND have a shut-off notice.

M - F 9 am - 12 noon & 1 - 4 pm
Intake Procedure:
Enbridge Gas and Rocky Mountain Power require an appointment. Salt Lake City Water Corporation assistance is walk-in only. Appointments are not accepted. Download or print the application packet from the website. Once the application is received along with the required documents, it will take 8-10 business days for processing. Note that the application can't be processed until all necessary paperwork is received. Applications are processed on a first-come, first-served basis. Assistance is not guaranteed.

Assists families and individuals with food assistance, including fresh fruits, vegetables, meat, and nonperishable goods. The food pantry now uses client choice where the clients may pick their groceries.

Eligibility:
Clients are allowed one food order per month.

Walk in. Arrive at least 15 minutes before close for service.
